Where to refill co2 bottles in Helsinki area?

Hi guys,

I've set up my first aquarium in Helsinki recently and I'm considering a CO2 system now. Do you know where in Helsinki I can refill a CO2 bottle and how much it costs (refillable CO2 bottle from JBL 500 gram). Also, is it possible to buy a bigger bottle (2 kg) in Helsinki anywhere?

You can do in akvaariokeskus in ruoholahti if you have refillable cylinders. Dont remember the price but i remeber having a conversation with the owner that they normally have filled bottles there and you can just go a replace them there. Akvaariokeskus.com. you can call them on the cell and ask or more info.

I checked with them a while ago, but I understood that they provide this service only if I buy a complete CO2 system from them. The system they sell isn't the best (Sera Flore, it's too expensive and it comes without a solenoid valve, which is ridiculous), and also they only have 500 g bottles. I'm afraid it's not a solution for me

Are there other options, especially if I decide go with a 2 kg CO2 bottle?

How big aquarium you have actually? A 500g cylinder lasts quite a many months for a 200 litres of volume, for example. And quite a time for bigger ones as well.

If you are looking for easy fill-ups, maybe you should go for smaller cylinders, like those SodaStreamer cylinders. You can fit those to the existing CO2 regulator with an adaptor, and you can simply exchange the empty SS cylinders in many ordinary shops and shopping malls. Costs do differ, from 5€ up per fill-up. Adaptor costs some, but cylinders are much cheaper. You can have 2 pcs, when one is empty, you just replace that from own stock, and change the empty one some day.

thank you very much for your answers. My current tank is very small, only 20L, so I guess SodaStream bottle will work for ages now But, I'm already thinking about expanding, so I consider bigger options. It's good to know there are places I can refill a bigger bottle, should I consider to go big.
